About – Net Zero Garden Hero

Hi! I’m Brett

What is this Eco-Friendly gardening website about?

I’m Brett Hardy and the idea of this website is to share simple techniques and tips that I have learnt over the years about eco-friendly gardening and reducing climate change that we can all easily incorporate into our everyday lives.

I’ll share the latest information I have researched so that YOU don’t have to.

What will you learn here?

If you want to learn how to be greener and improve your outdoor space, then follow me on my journey.

I will guide you in how to use hands-on, easy achievable small steps to improve your outdoor space for the better. It doesn’t matter if you have an Urban or Country Garden- a small courtyard to a large estate. You can make a difference. Every little helps in this looming climate emergency.

Even if you don’t incorporate every idea and just carry out some of the points I suggest – every little improvement adds up.

So why bother worrying about climate change?

Every day there seems to be some headline from around the world talking about the latest flood, drought, or fire, – it is a huge concern to me.

The Governments seem to talk the talk but don’t take much action. It’s time for the general public to stand up and take action ourselves. We can’t rely on others to sort this mess out. We must take a stand and do our bit.

It’s easy to think that the climate emergency problem is beyond us as individuals. People believe that their actions wouldn’t make an impact. If we all make a 1% improvement to our carbon footprint every week, then by the end of the year – we will have improved our own emissions by a staggering 52%. How powerful is that!

So as a person, I wonder what I can do as an individual and in my community to reduce my human carbon footprint, one little step at a time.

Help save the planet – one garden at a time.

We want to ensure our planet and our future generations have a secure future with lower CO2 levels in the atmosphere, less pollution, and an abundance of natural resources in our environment.

I don’t want my children or grandchildren to live in a world that we have destroyed.

Imagine a world where we aren’t worrying about the sea levels rising further, and the earth’s temperature is no longer rising. Plants and animals aren’t under threat and going extinct, A world where we live in harmony with nature. As hard as it seems, I believe we can achieve this within our lifetimes.

Why am I so confident we can help save our blue planet?

Because we pretty much already have the knowledge and technology to be able to achieve this! It just means that we need to rethink our lifestyles a bit.

Maybe not have those fresh Strawberries out of season or this week’s “must have” latest fashion item.

Join me on my mission to save our beautiful blue planet, one garden at a time!

About me – Brett Hardy

I have spent the last 50-odd years being brought up in the countryside. I’ve done a degree in construction management, run housing sites, and am proud of my successful landscaping business.

Over this period, I have learnt a lot about how we can benefit the environment…. and a lot about the damage that we can inflict.

I am a believer that as well as looking attractive, gardens should also be thought of as a resource.

A place to grow food. A place to produce energy, clean the air, collect and clean water, and much more.

I am totally passionate about the environment and want to spread the word far and wide. It’s time to spread what I have learnt over the years to everyone.

Follow me here on my Net Zero journey to a better environment – And a Better Me.
